LET'S CONNECT
HELP US BUILD SAFER ACCESS TO THE HEART OF VILAS COUNTY BIKE TRAIL SYSTEM-AND THE COMMUNITIES ALONG IT.
BIKING IS BOOMING IN VILAS COUNTY
Biking is booming in the Northwoods, and for good reason. With the development and continued expansion of the Heart of Vilas County Paved Bike Trail System-a dedicated 52-mile bike path spanning 5 towns-thousands of residents and visitors are hopping on their bicycles to take in the beauty of Vilas County.
CONNECT OUR TOWNS
Since its inception, The Wilderness Pedalers have focused on developing bike trails and routes connecting the communities of Presque Isle and Winchester to the Heart of Vilas County Bike Trail. The topography and terrain of the area has made this mission a daunting task.
Currently, to access the Heart of Vilas bike path, residents and visitors in Winchester and Presque Isle either have to ride on busier county highways or transport their bikes to one of several trail parking areas. These hurdles deter cyclists who simply want to get on their bikes and ride.
ABOUT US
The Wilderness Pedalers established as a 501c3 nonprofit organization in 2015. Our purpose is to develop safe bike trails that connect the communities of Presque Isle and Winchester to the Heart of the Vilas County Bike Trail, an over 50-mile off-road paved trail system linking multiple Northwoods communities. The Wilderness Pedalers are guided by a master plan that further develops looped trails and routes within Presque Isle and Winchester.
