HEART OF VILAS COUNTY BIKE TRAIL SYSTEM

One of the best ways to explore Vilas County in Northern Wisconsin is on two wheels. The Heart of Vilas County Bike Trail offers riders more than 52 miles of paved trails that connects St. Germain, Sayner, Boulder Junction, Manitowish Waters and Mercer.

This spectacular trail, recognized as a National Recreation Trail, winds through the Northern Highland American Legion Forest and along crystal clear lakes and rivers. The trail system features smooth pavement suitable for all types of riders - from flat-to-rolling terrain, manageable hills, and multiple scenic bridges. TOWN OF PRESQUE ISLE

Presque Isle, Wisconsin's Last Wilderness, is a place of sun-filled, happy, lazy days and star-filled, cool, comfortable evenings and nights. Winchester is located in the northwest corner of Vilas County, covering over 34,000 acres with more than 6,000 acres of public land in the Northern-Highland American Legion State Forest. Winchester has 34 named lakes, 29 unnamed lakes, and its land area is nearly 80% wooded.

Winchester is a small community with 528 permanent residents (estimated in 2020) and also serves as a 'home-away-from-home' for over 3000 seasonal residents.
